Creating ads and keywords related to your business
When using Google AdWords you create ads related to your business and keywords carefully chosen to give you the best ad placements related to your product or service. The keywords need to be researched and chosen carefully to give you the best possible results. Choosing the wrong words, words that are too general or not appropriate for your geographic area (depending on your product or service) is throwing away money, since each click on your ad may not be a potential client if the keywords are chosen poorly.
Each click to your website cost advertising dollars. How it works is you setup a daily, weekly or monthly budget and then set an amount on how much you want to pay-per-click.
Example: You have a daily budget of five dollars and a maximum cost of 10 cents for each click on your ad. You only pay when the ad is clicked on and you want to make sure that the people clicking on your ad are going to be potential clients, so keyword research is critical.
Using Google Pay-Per-Click as an advertising tool
Using Google AdWords can be beneficial in that anytime someone searches Google using one of your keywords your ad may appear next to the search results. You are advertising to an audience that's already searching for something you have to offer.
Through Google Adwords you are also able to target people locally or regionally. Lets say you are small business and offer services only within your city limits, you are able to run your ad for that city only. So in short Google AdWords can be a valuable and powerful advertising tool.
Should I Use It?
It all depends upon your budget, product, service or competition. I wouldn't be able to give you my opinion on wether or not it would be beneficial to you until I know more about your website. I can say that there's no reason to use AdWords if you are not going to be making money with your website.
If you are just starting out the traffic to your website is most likely going to be minimul, in fact in most cases it takes months or even years to get listed on the first couple pages of Google, if ever. AdWords will help in that it gives your website a premium listing within Google.
Even if you only use AdWords for a few weeks or months, it can help get your website noticed and as I stated above it does give your website a premium listing, just like having a Twitter, Facebook and/or other major social media account for your website.
