Plan Your WebSite
When planning your web site, branding or SEO strategy, it's critical that you first think like you're target audience. It's easy to get off track and start believing that because you do something one way or like a particular color or graphic that everyone else will. Your customers might have different values or passions than you do so you have to create your entire business model based on your target audience not your own likes or values. The plain and simple truth is that your target audience is rarely like you, so you have to think outside the box so to speak and try thinking like your audience thinks.
Even if your only intention is to create a small informational web site, the message or information should be the first thing they see, easily accessible and professional in design. The typical internet user's attention span is measured in seconds, so you need to catch their attention and convey your message within those few seconds.
Working with you and information gathering
The first phase in planning your web site is gathering information, making sure that I know who your target audience is and what your trying to accomplish with the web site. Are you selling a product, a service or purely wanting an informational web site or blog? I will also need to know who your competition is, if any, and do you need SEO Services as well?
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) - find out more about it and if you need it by clicking here or by using the link above.
Not everyone knows where to start or even what designing a web site entails but I will make sure you understand and have all the information before we begin and that you have a clear and precise understanding of what I will be doing.
The informational phase is needed so I can be as effective as possible when the design phase begins.
Site structure and design Phase
Once we have concluded the informational phase we will begin the design phase, which includes your product, message or information and how it is to be presented to your audience.
There needs to be an organizational structure to how the information is to be displayed, it has to be easy to navigate and logical in finding the information they are looking for. The ease of access is very important and if not structured this way can drive away potential clients - (your target audience)!
I will create a structured outline of your site and how the information will flow and get your approval. It is important that you are happy with the structure before beginning any code writing.
Secondary design and code phase
Once the above phases are completed I will begin coding and working with the graphics/images for the web site, again knowing your audience will assist me in knowing what type of images and/or graphics to use and where to place them in the web site. Once I have created the landing page and link structure I will have you approve it before proceeding further, I want you to make sure you are happy about the look and I will re-design it until you are! This part is the easiest to change and I want to make sure you are satisfied before proceeding further.
Web site design testing and Completion
Once I am at this point I will be testing the web site code, links and making sure of cross browser compatibility, once the testing is completed I will get your final approval to go live with the web site.
Even though I have given a general outline as to the process of planning your web site and its completion, there can be more complexity to it depending on your circumstances. Do you have competition? Does your site need better ranking in search engines, such as Google? Please view the SEO link above on the menu that will assist you in answering those questions and give an explanation as to how that works and what processes are involved.
